Tour 1 Tour 2 Tour 3 Tour 4 Tour 5

Despite our reluctance to advise tourists to organize their own tour because of the extremely fragile ecosystem of the arid areas, we can propose the most independent traveler an adapted alternative:
To visit the National Etosha Park, Epupa Falls, Twyfelfontein region and the ochre Namib Dunes by your own means driving your own rental car in total freedom. Nevertheless, within your journey, we will assist you with our 4X4 support to enable you to access the most wild and remote parts of the country.
Thanks to this formula, you will still have the secure advantage of having a guide avoiding any logistical inconvenience and will be free to discover the magnificent landscapes of Namibia, its inhabitants and the north-western animal life of the country.

Day 5 and 6: Epupa Falls – Epupa Camp
You will spend two nights in a comfortable canvas lodge settled on the Kunene riversides few yard away from the magnificent Epupa Falls. Discover the Himba people accompanied by a local guide, semi-nomads herders who have kept their ancestral traditions. Full board included.
Days 7 to 9: Northern Kaokoland – Otjitanda - Van Zyl’s Pass – Marienfluss
You will meet our support staff at Okangwanti (cf. logistic heading). During these three days, we will penetrate into the deep Kaokoland- the territory of the Himbas, also called the Red People. The progression with our 4X4 is very slow since difficult passages become more and more frequent. This challenging itinerary, from the beginning to the end, crosses a grandiose semi-arid landscape. At our arrival on the Van Zyl’s Pass, we are greatly rewarded by a unique beautiful panorama on the Namib Desert and the Marienfluss. We will then settle our camp at Otjinungwa next to the Kunene River under immense trees (faidherbia albida). Bush camp deep in nature. Day 7 in a rudimentary camp made by the local population, day 8 and 9 at Otjinungwa. You will appreciate the numerous beautiful walks possible along the Kunene River.
Days 10 and 11: Northern Namib – Hoarusib – Purros
We will drive up the whole Marienfluss’ Valley until the Red Drum also called the junction with the western Kaokoland. Heading south-west, we will arrive at the limit of the Skeleton Coast Park. We will follow the Coast on forgotten small gravel roads up to the Hoarusib riverbed. The beauty of the moonlike landscapes is surprising and sometimes disturbed by the passage of oryx, springbok and ostriches. We will go up the Hoarusib Gorges, where we will see, if we are lucky, our first desert elephants, up to Purros – a small village lost in the middle of the sands where Himba and Herrero people live in harmony. Bush camp in deep nature day 10 and in local community camping day 11.
Days 12 and 13: Hoanib Valley – Northern Damaraland
After crossing a denuded plateau, we will arrive in Hoanib riverbed. The wati, enclosed between two rocky walls, offers beautiful landscapes where ancient immense acacias shelter desert elephants. At this spot we will have the occasion to study the huge holes made by the elephants in quest of water. We will then leave to join one of the wildest regions of Damaraland. Surrounding by huge tabular massifs we will have the opportunity to observe a diversified animal life: oryx, mountain zebras, lions … and if we are lucky the last black rhinos (diceros bicornis bicornis) and elephants adapted to the arid environment found outside national parks. Bush camp under tents deep in nature.
Day 14: Mowani Mountain Camp
Back on the beaten roads near Palmwag, we will reach the Mowani Mountain Camp which is an exclusive lodge situated among a granite koppje environment. Settlement of comfortable tents on a wonderful viewpoint. Dinner and breakfast included. In the morning you will leave the Omanda Desert & support staff return to Windhoek. In the afternoon, free visit of the Twyfelfontein rock drawings site – San people made these paintings some 6000 years ago.
